Sejarah Singkat

At the beginning of the history of the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University (in 1956), Neurology was handled together with Mental Health Medicine. As the head of the first Department was Prof. Dr. Tahitu. The Staff Department at that time were dr. Han Thwan Ham and Dr. Siem Oen Djoen. Finally, the Neuro-Psychiatric Department led by (alm.) dr. R.Soeparto Hardjohusodo (Neurologist-Psychiatrist) henceforth (in 1972), the Faculty of Medicine of UNHAS established the establishment of a Department of Neurology separate from the Psychiatry Department, which is characterized by:

  1. The appointment of dr. Kees Etword Sie, Neurologist, (often abbreviated as dr. K.Ed. Sie) as a Department Head.
  2. The acceptance of 2 staffs and at the same time as an assistant (resident), dr. Robertus Arifin Limoa and dr. Amiruddin Aliah.

During the years 1972 – 1990, the education of clones of neurologist was carried out in the status of preliminary educational qualification. In 1975, they sent an assistant (dr. R. Arifin Limoa) for “finishing touch” to the Neurology Department of FK-UI / RSCM Jakarta and was completed at the end of 1976. Dr. F.E.Kuswara completed his education in 1980 at the same place. In 1976, the Neurology Department of FK-UNHAS sent dr. Amiruddin Aliah for final education (“finishing touch”) to the Neurology Department of FK-Airlangga / RSUP Dr. Soetomo in Surabaya until the end of 1978.  In this place, dr. Andial Abadi completed his education in 1978 and dr. G.Wuysang in 1979. Following successively until the end of 1989 each dr. Sartono KS, dr. Kamalia Djani, dr. Misnah D. Basir, dr. Johana Rovanio Mamahit, dr. Sofyan Hasdam and dr. Anwar Wardy Warongan. In 1982 – 1983, dr. Amiruddin Aliah was sent to study Neurology and neuroradiology in Paris, France, December 1994 to March 1995. dr. Amiruddin Aliah was sent to Sydney & Melbourne, Australia to study neuroimaging, stroke, and neurophysiology. In 1998, dr. Susi Aulina was sent for the additional education (3JJ months) to Australia (Sydney University) in the field of Neurophysiology. In 1996, dr. Muhammad Akbar was sent for attended doctoral education (S-3) at Hiroshima University in the field of Neuropsychopharmacology, completed in March 2001.

In January 1981, the position of Head of Neurology Department was handed over from dr. K. Ed. Sie to dr. Amiruddin Aliah, Sp.S. who was held until 2002. Furthermore, the Head of the Neurology Department was led by dr. Muhammad Akbar Sp.S., Ph.D (2002-2006), dr. Susi Aulina Sp.S (2006-2010) and led by dr. Muhammad Akbar Sp.S., Ph.D since 2011 until now.
